A control apparatus for a cooling fan (1) which is driven by an electric motor, of the type comprising a relay coil (2) which, when it is energised, serves to actuate said fan (1) by a movable contact (4), and a temperature detector (6) which is connected to said coil (2) and to a general switch (18) and which reacts to the temperature of the cooling fluid circulating in a radiator (8) when it exceeds a predetermined value, to energise the relay coil (2), characterised in that it comprises additional means which are responsive to the pressure of the cooling fluid and which are connected on the one hand to the positive terminal of an accumulator battery (16) and on the other hand to said relay coil (2) so as to energise same when the pressure of the cooling fluid exceeds a first predetermined value (P2 ) and until said pressure reaches a second lower predetermined value (P3 ).
