An axially reciprocable inking or damping roller is constructed such that rotary motion imparted to the roller automatically causes the shell of the roller to simultaneously reciprocate. In the first embodiment described, Fig. 1 (not shown), the rotary motion is translated to reciprocable motion through the use of an epicyclic gear 5 within the roller shell 10 whilst in a second embodiment, Fig. 2 (not shown), a double gear 25 is employed for this purpose. |
