PURPOSE:To obtain a high functional group content liquid diene copolymer suitable for tires in high yields and good reaction controlability, by polymerizing a conjugated diene and an active hydrogen group-containing, ethylenically unsaturated monomer by using a functional free-radical initiator. CONSTITUTION:Preparations are made for a functional free-radical initiator comprising a peroxide compound such as hydrogen peroxide or t-butyl hydroperoxide or an azo compound such as 4,4'-azobis(4-cyanopentanol). The purpose liquid diene copolymer is obtained by polymerizing a conjugated diene (e.g., isoprene or chloroprene) with an active hydrogen group-containing, ethylenically unsaturated monomer (e.g., 2-hydroxyethyl acrylate or 2-methylalkylamine) at a temperature of about 50-200 deg.C and a pressure of about 5-100kg/cm<2> in an organic solvent in the presence of the functional free-radical initiator. |
