Sliding roof for vehicles having a roof opening which is constructed in the roof of the vehicle, a displaceable cover for optionally closing or clearing the roof opening, a sliding inner roof lining arranged below the cover, a first driver arrangement for driving the sliding inner roof lining when the cover is opened and a second driver arrangement for driving the sliding inner roof lining into an intermediate position when the cover is closed. The second driver arrangement is designed so as to be disengageable. In its coupled-in state, the said arrangement drives the sliding inner roof lining into its closed position when the cover is closed. (Fig. 1). <IMAGE>
