PURPOSE:To increase a difference in the electron ray scattering power between each phase and to enable discrimination of each phase with stable and distinct contrast in the stage of electron-microscopic observation by irradiating a radiation to a high polymer material then subjecting the same to a dyeing treatment using osmium tetraoxide, etc. CONSTITUTION:The radiation to be used is a radiation having an electrolytic dissociation effect, which is exemplified by, for example, an alpha-ray, beta-ray, electrol ray, gamma-ray, x-ray, and neutron ray. The kind of the ray, radiation dose rate and radiation dose can be selected adequately according to the kind of the high polymer material. However, if the radiation dose is too small, the contrast given is not enough, and if it is too large, the reactivity with osmium tetraoxide, etc. increases considerably in each phase and not only the contrast is unobtainable but also breakdown and deterioration arise and therefore, a care is required. A reduced pressure, an atm. air or an inert atmosphere is suitably selectable for the irradiation atomsphere. As a result, the observation with the high polymer material with which the observation of fine crystalline structure by an electron microscope is heretofore infeasible is made possible. |
