PURPOSE:To improve measurement efficiency by transmitting a test code to a data transmitting device, and receiving the test code to count up errors. CONSTITUTION:A control part 13 in an intra-office device 9 is specified to execute, separated from communication circuits 5, 6 and connected to a modulating/demodulating circuit 12 to transmit a command for the measurement of error rate to a MODEM1. A detecting circuit 23 sends an output signal from a generator 24 to the MODEM1, which modulates the signal code and transmits the modulated signal to a device 2 through communication circuits 3, 4. A terminal adaptor 22 monitors a signal sent from the device 2, starts the detection errors from the time when detecting an error rate measuring pattern with a fixed length, and then sends the value N1 of a counter circuit 31 to the device 2. The device 9 stores the value N1 in the control part 13 and resets a timer circuit 14 to start the measurement, and after counting up for a fixed period, the control part 13 enters the counter value N2 sent from the device 2 and calculates the error rate from N2-N1 to display the error rate. Then the communication circuits are restored to the status set up before the measurement. In the same manner, the error rate of the communication circuits can be measured. |
