The cutter beam setting control for a harvester allows the cutter beam to be held parallel to the cutting edge of the cutting cylinder throughout the setting range. It uses a pair of setting devices coupled to respective ends of the cutter beam, each with a rotatable setting rod carrying a chain wheel around which a common chain is passed to ensure simultaneous even adjustment of the two setting devices for moving the cutting beam towards and away from the cutting edge. Pref. the chain is rotated for pivoting the two setting rods via an electric motor operative during the setting cycle. The setting control is used for a cutting beam with a long overall length.
