In an apparatus for the production of strapped elongate packages (1) made up in each case of a number of printing-product piles (2) which are to be stacked next to one another, said apparatus comprising a stack receiver provided with a stationary stop block (16) and a pressing block (17) which can be moved in the longitudinal direction of said receiver, efficient operation and a high accuracy and reliability are ensured even for the processing of thin products by designing the stack receiver as a cross-sectionally V-shaped channel (9) comprising two mutually perpendicular supporting tables (10 and 11 respectively), at least one supporting table (10) being made as a vibrating table and at least one supporting table having slots for the passage of rakes (25) which can be inserted into, and withdrawn from, the channel (9) transversely with respect to the longitudinal direction thereof and, in the inserted state, define compartments (26) arranged one behind the other, and the rakes being movable in the longitudinal direction of the supporting tables (10 and 11 respectively), the latter being assigned a strapping arrangement (channel 44, deflection curve 48, channel 49, channel 51, strapping unit 47, reel winder 46). <IMAGE>
