VESSEL FOR MOLTEN METAL PROVIDED WITH LEAKAGE DETECTION CIRCUIT

PURPOSE:To detect easily the leakage of a molten metal owing to the demage in the inside part of a vessel for molten metal of Al or Zn by constituting said vessel of a double vessel of nonconductive refractories, interposing conductive refractories at the intermediate thereof and constituting a leakage detection circuit for the molten metal. CONSTITUTION:A vessel for melting Al or Zn or for holding the heat of the melt 10 thereof is produced by superposing an outside vessel 4 consisting of a heat insulation brick or ceramic fiber consisting essentially of 40-60% Al2O3 and 35-55% SiO2 on the outside of an inside castable refractory vessel 2 consisting essentially of 61-98% Al2O3 and 0.5-34% SiO2 and interposing conductive graphite paper 3 in the narrow space between both vessels. An earth rod 8 made of SiC or the like is dipped in the melt 10 of Al or Zn in the vessel 2 and the graphite paper layer 3 is connected, via a power source 14 and an alarm 15, to the earth. The leak 10a of the melt 10 owing to the damage in the vessel 2 contacts the paper 3 and closes the electrical circuit, then the leakage of the melt 10 is detected with the alarm 15.
