PURPOSE:To prepare polyene substance NB 2025 having antitumor activity, by cultivating a specific bacterium belonging to the genus Streptomyces, collecting the product of the bacterium. CONSTITUTION:A bacterium [e.g., Streptomyces actuosus AJ 9445 (FERM-P 6740)] belonging to the genus Streptomyces, capable of producing polyene substance NB 2025, is used. Namely, the bacterium is cultivated under aerobic conditions in a common liquid medium at about 4-9pH at about 15-40 deg.C a supernatant liquid (or methanol extracted solution of mold) from which the mold is separated and removed is extracted with ethyl acetate, and then concentrated to give a solid substance, which is treated by column chromatography, and purified NB 2025 providing single spot with 0.67 Rf value by silica gel thin layer chromatography is collected. |
