PURPOSE:To simplify the operation of a parking brake, by making it possible to operate such that parking brake operation is obtained by carrying out step-in operation by setting the driver's foot on a brake pad, and the parking brake is released by laterally rotating the pedal. CONSTITUTION:Upon operation of a parking brake when a pedal pad 8 is pushed in straight forward to rotate around a shaft 4 a pedal 6 which therefore reaches the position shown by a two-dot-chain line, the pedal 6 is held in its pushed-in position by means of the engagement between an engaging teeth 14 and a pole 18. Then, in order to release the parking brake, a limiting member 50 is rotated clockwise by pulling a manual control lever which is not shown, to retract the pedal 6 from its lateral position so that the pedal 6 is rotated around shaft 36 counterclockwise. In this condition, when the pedal 6 is rotated to the position shown by a chain line, a pole 8 is released from the engaging teeth 14 so that the pedal 6 is returned to its original position. |
