摘要 PURPOSE:To increase the diameter of a cam gear without increasing the overall size of a driver for rotary recording medium, by setting a cam gear rotatably and coaxially with the shaft of a spindle that revolves a magnetic disk. CONSTITUTION:When a magnetic disk cassette 38 is set into a magnetic disk driver 1, a magnetic disk 44 is rotated together with a spindle 8. At the same time, a magnetic head 20 is put into a cassette housing 39 and the head surface comes into contact with the recording surface of the disk 44. When access is secured between the disk 20 and another recording track, a motor 35 is rotated and a cam gear 29 is rotated by a prescribed amount. Thus a head support member 11 is moved in the prescribed direction by a prescribed amount. In such constitution, the gear 29 can be set coaxially with the axial core of the spindle 8. Thus the diameter of the gear 29 is increased. As a result, the number of teeth of the gear 29 can be considerably increased and therefore the head 20 can be moved with high accuracy.
