A device for sensing dew or hoarfrost comprises a sensor having a substrate (1) whose permittivity is less than that of ice, two electrodes (2, 3) on the substrate (1) and a resistance film (4) on the substrate (1) which covers the two electrodes (2, 3). The impedance between the two electrodes (2, 3) is different in each case in a first, dry state of the sensor element, a second state of the sensor element in which there is a moist dew deposit on it, and a third state in which there is a frozen deposit (hoarfrost) on it. <IMAGE>
