The invention relates to a double-acting spring energy store with two functionally independent storage springs for a switching device for the torsional coupling and decoupling of two rotating components provided with toothing or the like, in particular for connecting and disconnecting a differential lock or a final drive of a motor vehicle, in which switching device a sliding sleeve or the like is engaged and disengaged by swivelling an actuating lever with the interposition of the spring energy store, of a force transmission member transmitting tensile and compressive forces and of a lever arrangement. When the actuating lever is swivelled in one switching direction, only one storage spring is tensioned and, when the actuating lever is swivelled in the other switching direction, only the other storage spring is tensioned, while the other storage spring in each case is deflected simultaneously but without tension, with the result that, during all the switching actuations, only one spring is operative in each case and no return springs or the like have to be overcome. <IMAGE>
