The invention relates to a process for producing pressure-moulded coal for use in block-charging of coke ovens, the coal raw material being first pressure-moulded, a part of the coal pressure-moulded in this way being caused to remain in the mould cavity, while the next coal raw material is charged for pressure-moulding and this pressure-moulded coal is combined with the original coal so that, in continuous production of pressure-moulded coal, the pressure force exerted on the coal being pressure-moulded afterwards can be absorbed as a result of the frictional force between the pressure-moulded coal and the wall of the mould cavity. After the pressure-moulding step, the pressure-moulded coal is ejected from the mould cavity by application of further pressure to the pressure plate. <IMAGE>
