In a process for manufacturing a casting nozzle 2 with enhanced resistance to spalling and enhanced corrosion resistance, a binder is added to a starting material which consists of 42-93% by weight of specially pure alumina powder, 4-44% by weight of specially pure graphite powder and 10-27% by weight of specially pure fused silica powder, the mixture resulting from this is pelletised, the pellets are pressed by means of a rubber press and the pressed casting nozzle 2 is sintered at a low temperature, so that the properties of the alumina, graphite and fused silica are preserved. <IMAGE>
