<p>An apparatus for trimming flash from a workpiece (12). The apparatus includes a platen (14) which supports the workpiece (12), an operator (16) including a cylinder having telescoping components (56, 64, 68, 70) for imparting movement to the platen (14). A plurality of rods (20, 22, 24, 26) for guiding movement and trimming units (18) comprising a cavity and a plurality of cutting blades (126) movable into and out of the cavity for trimming flash from the workpiece (12) when presented to the cavity by the platen (14). Since the workpiece (12) is presented to the cavity the trimming units (18) do not require complex structure for their support and movement as would be the case if supported at the loading position. </p> |
