In the case of a method for improving the combustion of a mixture consisting of a fuel fraction and an air fraction which flows at a predetermined rate towards a combustion chamber of an internal combustion engine, the mixture is first accelerated from this predetermined rate of flow before entering the combustion chamber until the fuel fraction vaporises due to a resulting pressure drop in the mixture and then slowed back to the predetermined rate of flow. A cross-sectional constriction increasing the rate of the flowing mixture is provided in front of the combustion chamber, between which constriction and the inlet a smoothing section is arranged, which again reduces the rate of flow of the mixture. |
