PURPOSE:To execute vertical magnetic recording whose write and read-out efficiency is large, and to execute recording and reproducing by only from one side by forming a closed magnetic path by a recording medium and a recording and reproducing head, and avoiding leakage of a magnetic flux to the outside. CONSTITUTION:A high magnetic permeability magnetic material thin film 8 and an exciting winding 4 are formed on a nonmagnetic substrate for supporting a head. The high magnetic permeability magnetic material thin film 8 consisting of two layers is separated magnetically by a magnetic shielding film 7 consisting of a nonmagnetic material in order to prevent a short circuit of a magnetic flux. On the other hand, on its reverse side, two layers of the high magnetic permeability magnetic material thin film 8 are continuous so that the magnetic flux passes through easily. When a signal current is made to flow to the winding 4 of the head, write and readout are executed on the face where the tip of the magnetic film 8 of the head is put on a recording medium 1 on which a vertical magnetizing layer 11 and a high magnetic permeability magnetic material layer 12 are laminated. In this case, the direction of magnetization of a magnetic domain in the vertical magnetizing layer 11 contacting with the high magnetic permeability thin film of the side of the supporting substrate of the head is directed in the direction opposite to the direction of magnetization of the magnetic domain contacting with the high magnetic permeability thin film of the other side. |
