Allyl esters of carboxylic acids

The cpds. are selectively prepared by gas phase reaction of propylene with oxygen or oxygen contg. gases and a carboxylic acid, in the presence of a catalyst made of an inert support, one or more salts of the gp. VIII noble metals (pref. a palladium salt of the carboxylic acid) and 0.01-20% (pref. 0.1-5%) of bismuth pref. as bismuth salt of the carboxylic acid. Pref. the catalyst contains 0.1-25% by weight of an alkali salt of the carboxylic acid. The part of the catalyst which is the first to contact the reacting gases is periodically or continuously removed the entrance of the reactor and added to the reactor exit.
