The speed changer comprises a base (1) fixed to a bicycle frame, to to a top tube (H). A pivot is provided at the base with a single control level(3) supported at the pivot. Independently rotatable winding surfaces are supported axially at the control lever. Control wires (11, 12) for a front and a rear derailleur are attached to the winding bodies (4, 5) resp. Couplings, comprising at least one retainer(22, 23) and a first and a second engaging portion (43, 45) in engagement with the retainer, couple the control lever selectively with one of the first and second winding surfaces, controlling the front and rear derailleurs by a single control lever.
