Mortarless insulating wall structure

An insulating wall structure consists of building blocks of fire-resistant ceramic material. The building blocks are held together by means of connecting pieces. Expansion joints take up thermal expansion.
<??>To construct the wall structure so as to be sealed against flow, each building block (1) has grooves (4) on its boundary faces (3). Two mutually adjoining grooves (4) form a hole-like receptacle for a connecting piece (7). A connecting piece inserted therein covers the expansion joint (6).
