<p>PURPOSE:To protect completely a tape from damage in the condition of immoderate use, by separating the tape from a rotary drum when the reproducing mode or the stop mode continues for a certain time and stopping the rotation of the rotary drum after a prescribed time. CONSTITUTION:When detecting the time of the second fall after the elapse of a period (TL+T1') of a timer output signal, that is, detecting that the still mode release state continues for a time T2, a control circuit 32 outputs a signal, by which the logic of a head motor rotation control signal outputted to an output terminal 40 till then is made different, to stop the rotary drum and outputs a signal to separate a pinch roll from a capstan and outputs a brake signal to brake a take-up reel disc, thus setting the stop mode. Consequently, the stop mode is set when the device is left in the still mode release state for the time T2; and thus, the tape is completely protected from damage even in the condition of immoderate use.</p> |
