PURPOSE:To shorten the period of time required for evaporating off a solvent and produce a high-quality heat transfer ink sheet free from separation of an ink material, by a method wherein an ink consisting of a low melting point material and a solvent is applied onto a base, and then the rsultant material is heated to a specified temperature. CONSTITUTION:An adhesive layer is provided on the base (e.g., a paper) by coating, an ink obtained by mixing a low melting point material (e.g., bees wax, a pigment, a dye or a surface active agent) and a solvent (e.g., ethyl alcohol, acetone) is applied onto the adhesive layer, the resultant material is heated from the base side to a temperature lower than the melting point of the low melting point material to evaporate off the solvent, and is heated to a temperature at which the ink materials are mixed by melting, thereby producing the objective heat transfer ink sheet. |
