1275834 Hot metal mixers DEMAG AG 22 June 1970 [5 Aug 1969] 30141/70 Heading F4B A hot metal mixer comprises a frusto-conical brick lined body part 1 including at its top a spout 13 and a charging opening 14, a removable vaulted cover 2, and a fixed or removable vaulted base 3. The cover 2 carries one or more burners 24, removable covers 15 and 16 for the spout and the charging opening respectively, and actuating means 17-21 for these covers. A braced mounting ring 28 secured to the casing of body part 1 both supports projections 27 forming the spout and charging opening, and mounts opposed pivot pins 33 which are journalled in fixed frames 36-38. Tilting of the mixer is effected from a drive piston and cylinder mechanism 43-44, through a crank 41 rigidly secured to one of the pivot pins. Preferably the cylinder 44 is mounted on a pivotable bearing 45 or a universal joint to compensate for any sagging of the pivot pins. Alternatively (Figs. 3 and 4, not shown) tilting may be effected by a motor driven gear system meshing with a gearwheel mounted on one of the pivot pins. |
