The invention relates to a process for producing a transparent plastic panel having a layer partly transmitting, partly reflecting and/or absorbing rays, in particular of metal or metal oxide. The layer is vapour deposited onto the surface of a smooth baseplate. Thereafter, liquid or soft plastic is poured onto or forced against the coated baseplate surface and, after partial or complete curing of the plastic, the resulting plastic panel with the coating layer is lifted off the baseplate. <IMAGE>
