In the course of the method according to the invention, the momentary disturbances resulting from the design of the protective system of the high output turbo compressor are screened out by selective time delay of the protective balancing, unjustified machine shutdowns thus being prevented and only those machine shutdowns associated with actual impending damage being initiated. In the case of the circuit arrangement serving for implementation of the method according to the invention selectively adjustable time delay relays are incorporated in the interlock system.
