An indicator for indicating the electrostatic charge of an object to be measured. The aim is a simple, rugged construction of the indicator and ease of operability. This is achieved by an easy-running support of a metallic rocker (14) along its transverse line of gravity in two bearing parts (9, 10), the rocker sections (14a, 14b) at the end being closely opposite two stationary conductive coatings (4, 5). One of these (5) is connected to a contact plate (2) and the other one is connected to a reference potential. A voltage at the contact plate excites the rocker (14) into rotary movements, in each case one of the capacitors formed from a rocker section (14b) and one coating (5) discharging by establishing contact at the end positions. The range of applications includes charge indicators. <IMAGE>
