PURPOSE:A food or drug having a cholesterol lowering action or a suppressing action on rise in cholesterol, obtained by adding a specific amount of alpha-monolinolein and/or beta-monolinolein to the food or drug. CONSTITUTION:1.0-98wt%, preferably 2-5wt% alpha-monolinolein and/or beta-monolinolein based on the total amount is added to a food or drug, to give the food or drug having a blood cholesterol lowering action or rise suppressing action on hypercholesterolemia caused by various kinds of diseases such as arteriosclerosis, hyperlipemia, etc. Monolinolein in an amount 1/100 as much as an existing substance shows the same blood cholesterol lowering action and rise suppressing action. It has no inhibitory taste nor smell except flavor of monoglyceride with respect to ingestion, and a substance having high safety. |
