PURPOSE:To simplify the handling of a thermomagnetic recorder and to improve the practical performance of the recorder, by providing a permanent magnet which impresses an auxiliary magnetic field to a recording medium in an erasion mode and at the same time setting the intensity of the magnetic field of the permanent magnet at a specific level of coercive force on the recording medium. CONSTITUTION:For a thermomagnetic recorder which supplies a magnetic field to a recording magnetic thin film by a permanent magnet, the magnetic thin film is formed with an amorphous magnetic thin film such as GdTbFe, etc. This magnet impresses a magnetic field of 1kOe strength on the thin film when the information is erased. In this case, the coercive force Hc of the amorphous magnetic thin film of GdTbFe is set at 3.8kOe. In such a way, the permanent magnet gives no evil effect to the amorphous magnetic thin film as long as the value of magnetic field is regulated to about <=1/3 coercive force Hc on the thin film. Thus, the residual magnetization is stabilized and the practical performance is increased remarkably. |
