Prepn. of molten metal for sampling occurs a protection cardboard tube having walls at least 5mm thick and liaison tubes extending into it. Inside the protective tube is a combination mould having a disc shaped space and a casting zone both lined with borosilicate glass, several stacked cuvettes having a plurality of entry orifices and a steel protective dome introduced into the end of the protective tube. The mould is made of reduced pulverulent electrolytic Fe contg. 0-5 wt.% chromic oxide, 0-5% zirconium oxide and 0.2 wt.% graphite sintered to give a density of 4.9-7. Ratio of wt. of mould to trans. value of volume of mould space in wt. of cast metal being 1:1-1.8. Internal dia of casting zone lining tube is 6-12mm and its ratio to the length of the zone is 1-3-8. Specif. a temperature measuring device may be provided.. |
