PURPOSE:To make the weight of a moving member light, by providing a fixed section with X-axis and Y-axis driving means, so that when the movement in the direction of the X-axis is effected to a greater degree, the engagement with the X-axis driving means is released to restrain the table. CONSTITUTION:A guide rod 48 under the XY table 41 is supported on rollers 49, 49', and is moved in the direction of the X-axis via a pinion 53 and a rack 51 by a motor 52. The movement in the direction of the Y-axis is effected via a pinion 46 and a rack 44 by a motor 45. When the movement is effected to a greater degree in the direction of the Y-axis, the engagement of the guide rod 48 with the roller 49, 49' is released, and the guide rod is restrained by restraining rollers 61-63, 61'-63'. As a result, the XY table can be moved for a greater distance in the direction of the Y-axis, the weight can be made light, and high seed movement becomes possible. |
