EXHAUST GAS PURIFYING DEVICE

PURPOSE:To fit a fragile catalyst in the titled device in a simple, safe and effective manner wherein the catalyst is pinched between a resilient clamping plate having an air venting window and a flow straightening plate configured to pass the combustion gas consistently through the air venting ports of catalyst. CONSTITUTION:A flow straightening plate 15 has its entire periphery bent towards a catalyst 9. A clearance 16 formed between the outer periphery of flow straightening plate 15 and the catalyst 9 is diverged from the portion thereof adjacent to an exhaust pipe 7 backwardly of the fitting portion of catalyst 9. The catalyst 9 has a multiple of exhaust gas venting ports 9a and furthermore fitting holes 9b defined at the central portion of venting ports 9a. A resilient clamping plate 10 has its outer contact surface 12 projected more towards the fitting surface of catalyst 9 than the central fitting surface 11 thereof. The central fitting surface 11 and the outer contact surface 12 are connected each other by means of an arm 13, while other portions are used as an air venting window 14. The arm 13 is provided to avoid contact with the catalyst 9. The resilient clamping plate 10 serves as a cushioning material to reduce the risk of damage.
