A method is provided for determining the amount of IgG present in a neonatal foal or calf or in the colostrum of a dam or cow. The method involves contacting a body fluid sample with biologically inert latex particles, measuring the amount of agglutination which occurs, and determining the amount of IgG present. The latex particles are diluted to a final concentration of from about 0.65 to 2.0 percent (w/v) at a pH of from about 7.5 to 9.0 with a buffer. The body fluid is diluted to a range of from .01:12 parts to .01:2160 parts, v/v basis, at a pH of from about 7.5 to 9.0. |
