The invention relates to a pallet for stacking and transporting articles. In the position of use, vertical rods are inserted with their lower ends into a receptacle at the corners of the pallet. At the lower ends of the rod, there are pins which engage in a vertical groove in the interior of the receptacle and act as pivot pins when the rods are to be folded down onto the pallet in a position of rest. In order to avoid the rods dropping out of the pallet laterally in the position of rest, according to the invention the extent of the cross-section of the pins at the lower ends of the rods is equal to or slightly larger than the width of the groove in the direction of the rod and smaller essentially transversely to said direction. As a result, in the position of rest the pins secure the rods without play against lateral movements and dropping out of the pallet. <IMAGE>
