In a method and device for drawing in the body of cylindrical cans and containers made of super-thin sheet, the end of which is flanged outwards, by rolling in using a motor-driven pair of former rollers, the spacing of which is reduced during the rolling motion, the object to be achieved is to provide a simple method which can be carried out with a very simple device and with which the completely smooth drawn-in region with an accurately flanged rim is obtained in one stage. The invention solves this object by virtue of the fact that the rim is flanged first - to a flange width which is at least 20 % wider than the desired flange width - and that the draw-in operation is then performed.
