PURPOSE:To improve seizure-resistance and wear-resistance by providing a pair of sliding members capable of sliding each other, one sliding member thereof being provided with a sliding portion formed of silicon nitride, the other sliding member being provided with a sliding portion comprising an aluminatitania flame spraying layer. CONSTITUTION:A pair of sliding members capable of sliding each other are used in a sliding surface of a piston ring for an internal-combustion engine, a cylinder liner or the like. One of the paired sliding members is provided with a sliding portion formed of silicon nitride, and the other sliding member is provided with a sliding portion comprising an alumina-titania flame spraying layer. In this case, one member may be formed of silicon nitride ceramics only, and silicon nitride ceramics lining may be applied to the metalllic basic material. The other member is formed by disposing a flame spraying film composed of alumina-titania on the sliding surface of the basic material comprising cast iron or the like. Thus, seizure-resistance and wear-resistance between a pair of sliding members can be improved. |
