The invention relates to a molecular conjugate, to a method for manufacturing it and to its use as an active principle of immunogenic compositions. The aforementioned molecular conjugate is detoxified, possesses immunogenic, preferably vaccinating, properties with respect to a specified pathogenic principle and contains one or more haptens carrying at least one antigenic determinant characteristic of the aforementioned pathogenic principle and bound to a carrier molecule, a more particular feature of this conjugate being that the carrier molecule is derived from a toxin or toxin fragment, and that the haptens are bound to amino acid residues which are constituents of the aforementioned toxin other than one or other of the terminal amino acid residues of the carrier molecule.
