PURPOSE:To make a nut-bearing sideward terminal part connectible to the terminal polarity of a plate group without fail, by pressurizing a bottom face of a nut part of the sideward terminal part and the terminal polarity of the plate group with an extruding electrode for deformation and, after they are made electrically contact with each other, energizing them with a continuous rating current, then performing electric resistance welding. CONSTITUTION:A through hole 2 is installed in the side of a battery jar 1 composed of synthetic resin and a terminal holding part 3 is also installed in the outer surface, while a lead alloy-make sideward terminal part 5 fitted with a metallic nut part 4 is inserted into this terminal holding part 3, and a lead alloy-make terminal pole column 7 of a plate group 6 is set up at the inside of this through hole 2 so as to cover this hole 2. Afterward, a bottom face 8 of the nut part 4 of the sideward terminal part 5 and the terminal pole column 7 of the plate group 6 are pressurized and deformed with extruding electrodes 9a and 9b and, after making them contact with each other electrically, electric resistance welding is carried out upon current-energization. With this constitution, such a nut-bearing sideward terminal 11 as having a rigid connecting part 10 is completed. And, at least a tip diameter of the extruding electrode 9b is set to be smaller than an inner diameter of the nut part 4 whereby the bottom face 8 of the nut part 4 can be pressurized and deformed without fail. |
