PURPOSE:To allow a recording medium to be prevented from getting out of a cartridge when the cartridge is detached and to be constantly brought into close contact with a thermal head when the cartridge is set, by making a recording medium drive mechanism portion constantly apply a tension to the recording medium regardless the cartridge is set or not. CONSTITUTION:Torsion springs 95 generating a torque in the direction of winding a recording medium 2 is fitted into winding shafts 36, 38 for the recording medium 2 so as to generate a tension in the recording medium 2. This construction allows the recording medium 2 to be prevented from getting out of a cartridge and damaging when the cartridge is detached and to be constantly brought into close contact with a thermal head 1 when the cartridge is set, thus enabling a good printing. |
