The rotary piston (e.g. hydraulic) pump or compressor comprises a housing (1) with end covers, inlet (4) and outlet (5) whose peripheral wall (2) has an other than cylindrical inner surface (3). A cylindrical hollow rotor in the housing has end covers and carries pivotable (11-13) two-armed sealing elements (14-16) whose outer ends (37-39) are in contact with the cylindrical inner surface. Their radially inner ends (34-36) are pivoted (28-30) to respective rings carried on bearings on a stub shaft (21) eccentric relative to the rotor and secured to one housing end cover.
