PURPOSE:To coil a rolled wire rod in high packing density, by feeding the wire rod at a small angle at the time of starting the coiling of it and at an acute angle in an ordinary coiling, in feeding the wire rod into a coiling groove. CONSTITUTION:A rolled wire rod 1 is held between a pair of upper and lower delivery rolls 2, 3, and is delivered at an initial angle slanting the front side of it downward in the advancing direction by the rotational driving of the rolls 2, 3. Next, the wire rod 1 is more slanted downward to be fed into an annular coiling groove 6 of a coiler 5, having the vertical axis, while keeping this downwardly slanted coiling angle, and is coiled in the groove 6 by the rotation of the groove 6. The wire rod 1 is packed in the groove 6 as uniformly as possible. On the other hand, at the finishing period of coiling, the rod 1 is fed into the groove 6 at the initial angle, after releasing the draft of the rod 1 by a press roll 4. |
