PURPOSE:To suppress the early rise in a charging voltage under the repetition of charge and discharge, by electrodepositing metallic cadmium on an electrode, and immersing the electrode in an aqueous solution of an organic binder or a solution of the binder dissolved in an organic solvent, to interpose the binder between the grains of the metallic cadmium. CONSTITUTION:An electrode, in which metallic cadmium is electrodeposited on a punched nickel plate or a nickel-plated punched iron plate from a solution of a cadmium salt, is immersed in an aqueous solution of an organic binder or in a solution of the binder dissolved in an organic solvent, so that the binder is interposed between the grains of the metallic cadmium. Since the surface of an anode active material is thus partially covered with the organic binder, the coagulation of the active material under charge and discharge is prevented to suppress inactivation. |
