Cpds. are of formula : and their acid-addn. salts (where R is H, one or more NO2, alkyl, alkoxy; R1 is H, CnH2n. B where CnH2n is alkylM esp. where n = 1, 2 or 3, B = aliphatic or heterocyclic amino gp. e.g. Me2NH or pyrrolidon; R2 is H, aliphatic acyl, araliphatic acyl in which the aryl ring carries one or more substituents, e.g. halogen, alkoxy, aryloxycarbonyl in which the ring is opt. substd., the gp. where R3, R4 = H, alkyl or may be joined to form an N-heterocyclic ring e.g. pyrrolidino; provided that R1 and R2 are not both H; R1 is not H or -CH2. CH2. NEt2 when R is 4-NO2 and R2 is Co.Et; R is not H when R1 is -CH2CH2NEt2 and R2 is -CO.NMe2). The cpds. are analgesics, anti-inflammatory and antirheumatic agents, and intermediates.
