摘要 1331348 Supercharge I.C. engines; treating charge; cooling SOC ANON DE VEHICULES INDUSTRIELS ET D'EQUIPEMENTS MECANIQUES SAVIEM 19 April 1971 [9 March 1970 10 Feb 1971] 23571/71 Heading FiB In a supercharging system of a rotary-piston, water-cooled diesel engine having an exhaust gas driven turbosupercharger 16, Fig. 1, an air/ water heat exchanger 17 and a volumetric supercharger 11 in series, the supercharger 11 is driven proportionally to engine speed and part of the supercharging air is discharged from the connection between the supercharger 11 and the engine 1 to modify the supercharging pressure as a function of engine power output. The engine crank-shaft 3 carries a flywheel 9 with balance weight 10 and the slow rotor 11' of the Planche type with a balanceweight 12 (the fast rotor is not shown). A charge treating system may add a preliminary fuel/air mixture at 23. The heat exchanger 17 is connected to the engine cooling water radiator 29. At low power outputs all the supercharging air is supplied to the engine 1 since the orifice 40 at the end of passage 21 is closed to prevent any air divertion. Orifice 40 is controlled by a spring-loaded needle valve 41 of tapered or curved shape, responsive to a bellows 44 the interior of which is responsive to the turbosupercharger delivery pressure. With increasing power output the orifice 40 is progressively opened so that an increasing amount of supercharging air is diverted through passage 21 a heat exchanger in the turbine exhaust passage and orifice 40 thereby inducing increasing air flow through radiator 29. In another embodiment the air passes through a turbine exhaust gas/air heat exchanger (72), Fig. 5 (not shown) to a nozzle 88 thereby accelerating the exhaust gas flow, the latter being used in a pump 99 to increase the cooling air-flow in the radiator 79. In a modification of this embodiment the nozzle 88 is replaced by an annular nozzle (83) Fig. 5 (not shown). The volumetric supercharger may be a rotary lobed piston type.
