The invention relates to an exhaust device for motor vehicles, comprising an exhaust pipe with at least one silencer, which device, according to the invention, has an exhaust purification device (30), which comprises a casing (31) with a filter chamber (33) formed in its interior (32) and having at least one replaceable filter (34, 35), a second exhaust pipe (38) connected to the filter chamber (33) and having a suction and pressure pump (36) arranged in it, and a pipe (37) connecting the filter chamber (33) to the pipe section (21b) of the exhaust pipe (21) which is connected downstream of the silencer (20). Arranged in the region in which pipe section (21b) of the exhaust pipe (21) is connected to the pipe (37) connected to the filter chamber (33) is a reversing valve (40). The invention provides an economical device by means of which exhaust purification, especially as regards components which can be filtered, is possible in the exhaust gases without great technical outlay. <IMAGE>
