Electric motor for optional connection to direct current or alternating current

An electric motor is proposed in the manner of a double-universal motor, for direct-current operation and alternating-current operation and for 12 volt and 220 volt operation. This aim is achieved by means of two different windings which are laid one on top of the other and which can be connected only alternately to brush lifting devices, by means of two commutators which are arranged on a shaft, and by means of brushes which are allocated to said commutators. Two complete electric motors are thus created which, however, require only the structural size of a single motor, as a result of which the electric motor can be used especially in car vacuum cleaners which can also be operated with 220 volt alternating current.
