PURPOSE:To discriminate easily and accurately an address code even in a fast forward mode, by processing a reproduced address code with a low-pass filter (LPF) having variable cut-off frequency in a fast reproduction mode. CONSTITUTION:The traveling speed of a tape 2 is detected by a tape speed detecting circuit 4, and a control circuit 5 controls an LPF A5 in response to the fast forward speed of the tape 2. Then the cut-off frequency of the LPF A5 varies. Therefore the level is kept at a prescribed value for a reproduced address code which is sent through an amplifier A4 for reproduced address in a fast forward mode. Thus an address code can be discriminated easily and accurately even in a fast forward mode of the tape 2.
