PURPOSE:To form an information reader such as an intelligent copier and a facsimile where the processing mode is set easily, by reading a card on which the processing mode is described before reading an original. CONSTITUTION:A card mounting window 2 describing a processing mode, original platen 3, operating section 4, and a reference optical characteristic section 5 for shading correction are arranged on the upper surface of an information reader 1, and the inside of the reader 1 is provided with a scanning body 10 comprising light sources 11, 11', pickup elements CCD1, CCD2 and optical systems 12-15. A control section (not shown) shifts the scanning body 10, reads the processing mode information displayed by a bar code from a card loaded on the window 2, and reads the picture information of the original afterwards. The control section performs processing such as trimming, shift of coordinates, magnification and their combination to the picture information from the original based on the processing mode information read before. |
