PURPOSE:To provide a thermal head capable of changing resolving power by one, constituted from such a structure that, in a thermal head having heat generating bodies arranged in a paper feed direction said heat generating bodies are divided into a plurality of sets in the paper feed direction and each part of each set is constituted from both of a high resistance part and a low resistance part. CONSTITUTION:In a thermal head having heat generating bodies arranged in a paper feed direction, said heat generating bodies are divided into a plurality of sets in the paper feed direction and each part of each set is constituted from at least both of a high resistance part 1a and a low resistance part 11b. A thermal head having the heat generating bodies each connected to a voltage applying lead electrode 2 is used while heat sensitive paper is used as printing paper and, when voltage P is applied to each heat generating body 11 through the electrode 2, the temp. of the high resistance part 1b is raised to a saturation density region 3 to develop the color of the heat sensitive paper but the temp. of the low resistance part 1b is not raised and the color of the heat sensitive paper is not developed. However, when further higher voltage is applied to the heat generating body 11, the low resistance part 1b generates heat and color development is performed and therefore, resolving power can be changed only by changing voltage. |
